Highly Efficient Metasurface Quarter‐Wave Plate with Wave Front Engineering

Metasurfaces with local phase tuning by subwavelength elements promise unprecedented possibilities for ultrathin and multifunctional optical devices in which geometric design is widely used due to its resonant-free large tolerance fabrications. By arranging the orientations of anisotropic nanoantennas, phase-based metasurfaces can convert incident spin light orthogonal state, enable flexible wave front engineering together function a half-wave plate. Herein, incorporating propagation phase, another important device quarter-wave plate as well, implemented controlling both cross- copolarized simultaneously singlet metasurface, realized. Highly efficient conversion variety linearly polarized obtained meta-holograms, metalens focusing imaging blue region. This work provides new strategy polarization control, enriches functionalities metasurface wider application scenarios.
